How Wholesalers and Contractors Benefit From Colour and Wattage Switchable Luminaires

When specifying a luminaire for a project, it is not always possible to know exactly what the end-user will ultimately want. There are always times when they will change their minds, or decisions are made last minute.

One element of a lighting design that cannot be compromised on is where fire-rated luminaires are required. What if flexibility over elements such as colour-temperature and wattage could be combined with the legislative demands of a lighting scheme?

This has been realised in fire-rated downlights that not only deliver the safety aspects of an installation, but also allow for a pre-installation choice to be made over colour temperature and wattage. The RSeries from Aurora is a great example of this. It’s a family of fire-rated downlights where the colour temperature can be changed between 3000K, 4000K and 5700K, using the switch located on the back of the fitting. The contractor has the option to switch the product between 4W, 6W and 8W.

For the contractor, they can purchase a set of these downlights, knowing that they can make the selection to best suit the needs of each project without necessarily having the decision in advance. This will save time, removing unnecessary return visits to the wholesaler to change one colour temperature or wattage luminaire for an alternative.

This flexibility provides the wholesaler with a great selling point: if a contractor is not sure what colour temperature or wattage they require, a luminaire such as those from the RSeries will cover all eventualities. It is also better for wholesalers from a stocking perspective, as they can offer the RSeries or similar safe in the knowledge it will meet the majority of contractors fire-rated downlights needs.
