Safestore Self Storage is the UK's largest self storage group with 147 stores. Aiming to reduce their carbon footprint and replace their fluorescent lighting whilst enhancing their stores nationwide, they approached Aurora Projects and a very successful result was achieved.

One of the first things that Safestore mentioned when they approached Aurora was that they have special requirements. They are open 24 hours a day and customers can visit the premises at any time, so they were looking for a team that could work around customers easily and without causing much, if any disruption. Furthermore, they had a list of other instructions, including energy reductions and wanted the project completed before a deadline and on budget.
Aurora Projects completed a thorough site visit and put a proposal together that took into account all of Safestore’s requirements. The proposal included a bespoke slimline LED product which was designed and manufactured by Aurora in the UK.
Managing all aspects of this project internally ensured that all areas of the brief were met, an example of this was the fast fix mounting bracket, which was designed to assist with providing minimal downtime for installation and a secure fix to the ceiling.

The client was impressed with the result of the project. In terms of energy savings, the calculations reveal that savings will be equivalent to taking 800 diesel cars off the road per year. The Return on Investment (ROI) will be under two years.
