Highlighting luxury hospitality

Aurora’s wide range of products helped us to meet the brief for each area of the project, from the lighting quality, to the aesthetic finish, with a proven guarantee of energy saving. Aurora even went above and beyond – where the specified downlights would not fit in certain areas of the ceiling void, these were swapped for suitable alternatives and adaptor plates were provided for larger cut-out sizes. The end result is elegant, luxurious, and will meet the needs of the client in terms of look and sustainability for years to come.
Harry Kennedy (Director at Harcon Electrical)

THE PROJECT

LOCATION:
Belfast, Northern Ireland

CLIENT:
Clayton Hotel Belfast

A snapshot

The Clayton Hotel Belfast is a four-star hotel located within the Linen Quarter of Belfast city centre. Host to 170 rooms, ranging from deluxe rooms to executive rooms and suites, The Clayton Hotel is ideal for visiting the sights of Belfast in luxury. The hotel also boasts luxurious amenities such as a health club, gym, dance studio, pool, and spa complete with sauna and steam room. Four-star dining takes place at the Avenue22 restaurant and bar, with floor-to-ceiling windows which offer a view of the heart of Belfast. 13 state-of-the-art meeting and event spaces offer the ideal location for training, meetings and networking.

Aurora was selected to supply its superior lighting products to create an elegant atmosphere throughout the hotel while reducing energy costs.

The Project

Aurora products were used throughout the hotel to improve the overall aesthetics and consistency of fittings and colour temperature, to replace the mixture of fittings from years of maintenance with one sleek, seamless design.

The aim of the upgraded lighting was also to raise light levels in certain areas such as the back of the house and plant rooms, and to increase the amount of emergency lighting to ensure the building is kept up to requirements.

Aurora conducted energy audits and agreed a proposal with hotel management. As the hotel was open during fit out, Harcon took this into consideration and installed fixtures in sections to accommodate guests.

Aurora products were provided by wholesaler Electrical Equipment (EDM):

  • LinearPac
  • R6 Fixed
  • 6W Fire Rated Downlight
  • BackLite Panel
  • EDLM Fixed Wite Baffled IP65 Downlight
  • Uni-Fit Downlight

  • LEDLine LED Strip

AFTER
RESULT

The fittings achieved the desired effect of enhancing the lighting throughout the hotel, creating a uniform ambience and stylish aesthetic that promote the elegant interiors. The new lighting scheme also met the key goal of reducing energy costs for the hotel. Significant energy savings of 426,220kw were achieved compared to the original consumption of the building.

“We were delighted that our products were selected for this luxury hotel project, meeting the brief and exceeding the client’s expectations. Our range of products allowed various applications and requirements to be met, illuminating this elegant building to promote a high-end and relaxing experience for guests.” Ed Denny, Aurora Lighting.
