A snapshot

PLUSFRESC, a Spanish chain of Supermarkets that has continued to work with Aurora on several lighting projects since 2014, requested management and installation of its new store lighting in Tarragona.

The Project

The objective of the group, which established its very first store in Barcelona, was to highlight its fresh produce, paying particular attention to the fruit and vegetable counters, the fish market, butchers and charcuterie.

For the fruit and vegetable counters, which are always situated at the supermarket entrance, accent lighting was proposed and Aurora installed LED spotlights that delivered 3000 lumens. The fish market was illuminated with special COB LED spotlights that have cooler colour temperatures (5000K) to create an enhanced fresh, crisp appearance.

Similarly, COB spotlights specifically designed for fresh-meat foods, which achieve outstanding lighting effects using patented assorted colour technology to attract customers to fresh-meat areas, were installed at the charcuterie and deli. These emphasised the red colours and created excellent contrast with the cheese zone, which used the standard 3000K COB LEDs. In general areas LED bells were used with a cool colour temperature of 4000K.

Aisles were fitted with solutions that enhanced illumination on products and shelving rather than the floor. Products used for this project included Aurora’s popular EDDI T1 lane floodlights, MINIPROLED fish and meat COB and Camaleon LED bells.

AFTER
RESULT

Through the solutions designed and implemented by Aurora Lighting for Plusfresc, LUX levels were were raised significantly to 2500-3500 Lux. Combining this with the use of 3000K colour temperatures resulted in colourful stand-out displays, exactly what the client wanted to achieve.

The use of LED bells in aisles meant we were able to provide lux levels of 800 -1000 Lux on all shelving, helping to focus the customers eye on the products and increase basket spend.
